Kindergartners need LOTS of change throughout the day. Providing alternative seating around the classroom will help keep them motivated to learn during a time that is the most crucial. Throughout our day my students move around the classroom on average of 15+ times. During reading and math centers they visit each table as a way of getting up and moving. However, higher demands in education means that my students are spending more and more time at a table doing work. Alternative seating would allow for my students to become more engaged in the work at their seats and help them understand what their bodies need to help them do their very best work each and every day. This will also help my students with special needs fit in easier since they won't be the only ones with alternative seating.
