My school is a Title 1 school (below poverty families). My students do not come to school with the supplies needed for class, and they do not have supplies at home. So I need to provide the resources for them to succeed. Our classroom setting is a little unconventional. We have an open floor concept school. This means we do not have walls to separate our classrooms from one another. This alone brings challenges. The kids in my room are very high energy and very eager to learn. They love to have materials in their hands to touch and manipulate and be able to see the lesson unfold in front of their eyes. I send my students home every day with a just right book and for one that they want to read for fun, but I am running out of books for them to love. If I let them, they'd read the whole school day. My school does not receive a lot of funding, and the teachers have to pay for A LOT out of pocket, which we don't mind, but we would love some help and support.
