My gifted students, visual learners all of them, are not bound to the traditional methods of learning and find the greatest delight in kinesthetic activity. Yet few entities on this planet can inspire their excitement or amass their wonder as the vison of my lone remote control helicopter as it zips around contrived barriers, through dangling cardboard hoops and beyond classroom doors to a dazzling red-taped heliport glittering in the artificial brilliance of the school's great room. To ask these students to remain seated and aloof as their classmate spins through his progressions, narrowly missing the moving plastic obstacle, racing past the classroom door and landing steadily on the red framed heliport is tantamount to expecting the frothing waters of the Niagara river to withhold their rage as they as leap over the roaring falls.
