My school is a dual-language Mandarin and English school with an emphasis on oral language. Although our students are mostly Asian, our population is becoming much more diverse, especially in middle school. Learning Mandarin can be very challenge, but our students are bright, hard-working, motivated to learn when they come to my classroom. The students I teach have a wide variety of interests and abilities, and participate in activities after school that include debate, soccer, yoga, and community service club. I love the passion and enthusiasm that my students bring to all sorts of educational experiences! At this age, they are eager to learn and meet new people and new experiences. Learning another language has many intellectual, social, and cultural benefits for these amazing young people.
