These items will enhance their student achievement as they will not have to worry about where their last meal will take place. Arthur is a Title 1 school coming form largely one income family often finding food difficult to maintain in the home.
The goal of this project is to provide students who attend school where the only safe place to find food, shelter and most importantly love and care are by the educators in the local school system. Students often find it difficult to concentrate during class time when they are hungry. Most of these children's last encounter with food is often at school due to their parents inability to provide an appropriate well balanced meal at home. Our children come from homes where parents often work two or three jobs to make ends meet. Food is often at the bottom of the list in these homes.
1st graders find it hard to participate in classroom actives when they are worried . about their next meal is coming form.
Students feel as thought school is safe and the staff is willing to meet their most basic needs. Arthur prides itself on making children first and meeting the total needs of its students.
