My Contemporary Lit class lacks books. Last year, when I asked what I could teach in this class (my first year teaching this elective); I was advised to teach The Sun Also Rises by Hemingway. My school has a plethora of the classics, but not much for a modern audience. My students are diverse, modern, creative, thoughtful, and enthusiastic, but many have not found books that speak to them. I chose The Hate U Give and Refugee, because I feel that many of my students can relate to the stories. I believe these books are relevant and relatable. Please help!
