My class is made up of struggling students who are successful when they are allowed to get their hands on items to figure out how they work. The majority of the students I work with do not gain understanding from the traditional education experience, i.e. reading textbooks or listening to me teach the concepts. They need to work with their hands with materials that demonstrate the concepts. I work in a small school district in Northeastern Ohio that has a growing population of Spanish speaking students as well as many students who need alternative ways to learn.
