Inquiry (as an access point for all standards R.9-10.1-9; W.9-10.1-9) and collaboration (SL.9-10.1, 2, 3) are the foundations of my praxis as an instructor of writing and reading. My students are in the drivers seat as they work together to hone their craft as writers. The tools I've proposed for this project will enable us to implement instructional moves, routines, and activities that are designed to support students’ acquisition of content through low-stakes writing practice. These tools will enable us to engage in writing-to-learn strategies that grow students inquiry skills; enhance student talk and collaboration as they monitor and revise their own thinking; foster healthy attitudes about writing in general; and help students recognize the specific strategies that make them more successful learners. Thank you for helping me grow the next generation of writers!
