Children and young adults need to have the opportunity to read novels at their own pace and for their own reasons. If we do not give all children the opportunity while they are young, they will never become lifelong readers. This is especially true in this day and age where there are so many distractions in our society. I want to be able to provide my students with as many reading materials as I can. I have a small classroom library that I have started with my students reading level and interests in mind. The few Bluford novels that I own have continuously been a hit for the majority of my students. With this project, I will be able to provide all of my students with reading materials whenever they wish to borrow any of these books. When a student completes one novel, he or she feels accomplished and looks for another that he or she could be successful with. Having the entire series at their disposal will allow them to do this over and over again.
