As students in a inner city school there are not many spaces for sports education to take place. There are a few sports such as basketball and baseball that tend to get a lot of attention and are taught to children at a young age. However, there are many sports out there and even better there are sports that are dominated by women. By getting better equipment for volleyball, my adolescent athletes will feel like an important component to our school community and receive recognition by their peers on their continuously improving skills. Last year was our first year ever playing in the league. Many of the girls had never played the sport before. I want to expose them to the magic of volleyball and help them to become better scholar athletes. Although we only had one win last season, that one victory brought them together with tremendous pride and motivation for more success.
