Because of your support, every student in my class has access to the materials they need to be successful.\r\n\r\nBeing prepared helps students feel confident and ready to learn each day. We are about halfway through the school year, and we are still using these materials daily. They will continue to support our learning through the remainder of the year. From pencils, colored pencils, and dry-erase markers and boards, to cozy library materials and a new sharpener...each item contributes to a successful and productive day in our classroom.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your kindness and support. Students have been introduced to all our old materials plus the new ones we got from this project. Watching the 1st and 2nd graders with the tinker cube lock boxes is such a joy. They are trying, taking risks, figuring things out. It's so fun to see the lightbulbs go off in their brains when they find the right key that fits or figure out how to turn the little light on.\r\n\r\nThe third graders have really loved the life cycle of animals sets. I set up trays with all the pieces hidden in colorful rice and they dig through to find the pieces and then put them into the correct sequence. They are learning so much! And speaking of learning a lot, you should see our kindergarten kids with the rainbow blocks, just stacking away, balancing, testing, and getting excited by what they build. I am also incorporating literacy into play by challenging them to build letters with the blocks.\r\n\r\nOur first and third grade classes will soon study human body and I am so excited to pull out the organs apron plus the human body soft doll toy. When I first introduced the ice cream set and the coffee shop set, kids faces were all aglow with excitement. We took turns pretending to be in a coffee shop and ice cream stand so they could practice the vocabulary used in these places. Watching them create their own stories while pretending with these items has been so eye opening. And the laundry set! Forget about it! They have all been overjoyed using pretend area in our play space. Another staff member brought in some old scarves from her grandmother's house and a tin can of buttons. The students have been washing and drying and ironing and tailoring away with these items.\r\nThe vet set is another one that is highly used by our kindergarten and first grade students especially. They take turns being the vet and the pet owner and they're working together on sharing and problem solving.\r\nThe easel is another item that we are still getting accustomed to using. So far we have had students work together on the same picture from different sides of the easel. This has proven to take a lot of teamwork and flexibility as well.\r\nAll of this could have happened without your donation.
