Our school is largely lower income with over 75% qualifying for free or reduced lunch. We have a diverse population with many of our students being English Language Learners. Our parents want the best for their children and care about their education. Books are a luxury many families cannot afford so having a well stocked classroom library is necessary for the students to have abundant reading opportunities. Instilling a love of reading in my kiddos that will last a lifetime is my priority. For children with limited resources books open up the world. I ask my students "Where did you travel in your book today?" and having more books in their hands is paramount to keeping the fire burning for learning! I always tell my kids they can do anything and be anything; they need to have knowledge of what their life can be and books will be one path to their future success!
