My students are fiercely independent, but enthusiastic learners. They really respond when given opportunities to research topics and create projects. My class has a range of academic levels, which is best addressed with independent projects differentiated for their needs. My school has a range of socio-economic diversity, including approximately 25% of students qualifying for free/reduced-price lunch. This diversity is addressed through a purposeful culture of inclusion and positive community. This sense of community is very much a part of my educational philosophy, which runs through both the social and academic goals of my classroom. Flexibility, creativity, and opportunity are the foundation of all of my classroom projects.
