Our school is an amazing inner-city middle school in New York. As an English teacher, I believe one of the best parts of our curriculum is teaching literature. Books encourage kids to live through the characters. I love when the books make them laugh, make them mad or even cry. To see them care and be so emotionally invested in a book is an amazingly powerful thing.
