Our school is 1:1 with technology, so all of our students have Chromebooks to use in the classroom. However, many of them do not have access to earbuds or headphones. They do not have the funds to purchase these themselves. The English department prides ourselves on using innovative technology to help reach all our students. My classroom includes special education students, English Language Learners, and more, all learning at their own pace. I often differentiate and enhance lessons using multimedia- including audio and video files. Sharing these resources with students individually, using Google Classroom, allows students to have self-directed learning. Students can explore multiple resources, and I can differentiate my lessons well. It also allows me to appeal to their passions and interests more, including songs, film clips, and more. Unfortunately, that can get very chaotic if all students don't have headphones. Some students really struggle in a noisy environment. Having a class set of headphones will prevent this problem and help allow me to plan even more interactive lessons.
