My students grew up either speaking or understanding Spanish at home, but this is the first time they have been challenged to do more with the language. I am pushing them to read, write, and on top of that, do it correctly with proper punctuation and grammar. Overall, my students lack the confidence to take the course seriously at all times. I know that with this book, they can self reflect and see themselves as not only "Native speakers" but bi-literate students who can read an entire book and also reflect on those sentiments and create things that reflect who they are as young adults in our world. I want them to feel the pages of this book in their hand, and also feel their confidence rise with each page they flip!
