Lanphier High School is considered a high poverty school and is above state and district averages for students eligible for free and reduced lunches coming in at over 70% where as the state average is 44%. Supporting the arts is vital to our youth in so many ways. The arts strengthen student problem-solving and critical thinking skills, adding to an individual's overall academic achievement and preparation for the work world. The arts develop cognitive, creative, and communication skills teaching students to be more tolerant, self-disciplined and self-confident. Art classes, for some students, is their motivation for coming to school providing an area where they have success and perhaps excel, adding to the overall balance of their education.
