My students are from all over the world, from Vietnam and Africa to being born and raised in our town. It has been a blessing to be around such diversity and be able to learn about their cultures, and hear their stories. My students are fun, energetic, driven, and sweet. Each and every day they bring a smile to my face, whether it be laughing on the playground or learning that it's okay to make mistakes...and that I even make them! They all have such generous and kind hearts even given some of their circumstances. I have multiple students from one parent households, students who have been displaced from their homes, students who are new to the country, and students with learning disabilities. With these great challenges, come great rewards. It makes even the smallest accomplishments that much more exciting when you know of the challenges that these students face. Next year, I have students who will be moving out of my school and into charter schools to better themselves.
