Children take great pleasure in listening to stories, and our classroom was fortunate enough to inherit many audio/paperback book sets. This listening center will help students access another resource to help push their learning and education further along. Hearing a book read on tape aloud can help children see how words on a page can come alive in a fluid and expressive way. It can help students focus on the sounds of words of words read and is a great model of fluency within reading. Our audio books used within our listening center will give students and important introduction to listening. All of these skills are very important in reading. Having a listening center will dramatically help my students, especially those who are new to the English language, form a foundation around concepts of print and reading essential skills.
