Our class is a place for students to get comfortable, stimulated, and engaged. We have a small class of students whom have multiple severe disabilities primarily orthopedic and intellectual. Everyday we take our students to the sensory room where we physically assist them to spin and play in ball pits. In the sensory room students are helped to lay out on soft bags or into swings. Once comfortable the lights go dim and an assortment of lasers, colored lights, and disco ball reflections hit the walls. Soon after the ambiance of nature sounds, classical music, scents ranging from pineapple to violet, fill the air. Then the room is then complete with the sound of laughter and shine of smiles. The sensory room is a favorite among all students and staff. Our students need sensory stimulation in order to develop and engage their senses.
