There are eight students with the challenges of Learning Disabilities and Autism. Reading comprehension, understanding text in different formats, written expression, and verbal communication are critical life skills along with real life math and employment career skills. We work on getting ready for the "real world" every day in high school. These students have dreams of success for life now and after high school. We are a small, rural, and title one school with limited resources. 75% of our population is on the free lunch program. There are things in their life they live without, that others take for granted. Our families have limited financial resources as well. The district has extremely limited funding to curriculum materials that are the steps to the success and dreams. Teaching here requires creative and innovative techniques with materials that target the needs, both in the educational setting and at home, and provide support to emotional concerns that go beyond school day.
