My students are from California. Eighty-seven percent of the students at our school qualify for the free lunch or reduced-price lunch program. Our area is high in gang activity and one way our students stay out of the gang life is to participate in school athletics. Despite all odds against them, our students are wonderful! Many of our girls have never played basketball before and they always show up and try their best! I am honored to be their coach and I want to be able to make them better athletes and overall people.
