Quiet fans and flexible seating will allow students to come back to the classroom with some of the comforts of home while making choices that work for their best individual learning. Students will be allowed to learn in a variety of ways including but not limited to standing, sitting on the floor, using wiggle seats, yoga balls, and other seating options. After a year and a half of learning from home, our students are no longer accustomed to sitting at desks with chairs, therefore, flexible seating will ease the back to face to face transition. Flexible seating has been shown to increase motivation and productivity in the classroom especially with students with disabilities. The portable that I teach in does not have air conditioning and very limited windows. The quiet fans will make a huge difference is time on task due to comfort level with the heat.
