I teach Science, Math, and Occupational Prep to special education high school students. In my prep class, I teach life skills, job skills, social skills, and study skills. I believe in holding my kids to high expectations, because they are worthy of the expectation. They deserve the best! Most of my students are low income and their learning challenges range from mid-high functioning autism, specific learning disability to emotional and/or behavioral disturbance. They are eager to learn but are not used to being challenged due to lack of resources. They are the most amazing group of students even on the most challenging days. This is my first year at this particular school and I am learning that in the past they didn't always feel like the teacher had their best interest heart, they felt like leftovers (actual language used). It is my goal to make sure they feel and know that they are extremely valued and that they are worthy of the same respect as their general ed peers.
