The cork boards are just one way the students can obtain more ownership of their classroom surrounding. These cork boards will be used for students to display their understanding and explanations of our IB thematic central ideas. Students feel so much more invested in the learning process when they can visually represent their thinking to others. Students will create their classroom surrounding to enhance their personal learning experience. Instead of store bought posters and signs, children will be able to bring their thoughts to life via classroom visuals. The classroom, in turn, will naturally become more student-centered. My students take pride in their work, especially when it is on display.
