My students thrive off of the opportunities to engage in hands on activities that allow them to try new things and learn through exploration. Many of my students have interests in art and enjoy using new and exciting materials to create their art. This project would provide my students with access to art materials beyond the paper, crayons, and markers that I am able to provide for them. They love to proudly display their art and explain what they have created to their classmates. I have learned so much about my students and their lives through their creative expression- I look forward to what they will create in the future!
Many of my students lack access to age appropriate toys outside of the classroom setting. It is important for me to provide my students with toys that encourage cooperation amongst peers and imaginative play. Puppets, a cash register, and veterinary tools will be exciting new activities that promote group play for oral language practice and development.
Kindergarteners in my class enjoy building and designing structures using materials such as paper boxes and popsicle sticks. The addition of wooden blocks to our STEM engineering bins will provide opportunities for my students to practice building more elaborate structures, which will increase student engagement. Bins to store the new materials will allow us to keep things organized, in good condition, and accessible to all students!
