My school is a Title I school serving just under 800 students. I have the pleasure of working with students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade. The primary focus of the classroom is reading, writing, and math instruction. My students demonstrate perseverance and a desire to learn despite disabilities that create challenges and make access to traditional curriculum that much harder. Early identification paired with interventions that engage and meet individual needs of students makes the difference. Often individual needs can be met with computer assisted programs intervening in reading and math. We work towards mainstreaming students into general education classes with strategies and tools that allow access to grade level instruction.
