Many of my students are forced to grow up too soon because of their upbringing; they come from broken homes many times. If you take the time to get to know them, you will quickly come to the realization that they all have goals and aspirations, but can't see past their limitations. My school is located in what is considered one of the poorest areas in the state right across the border from Mexico. Although it's geographic location doesn't seem to be in our favor, there are people willing to make a difference in the life of those who see the "poorest city" label as hopelessness. Being a of light and hope is what keeps the school moving forward.
