This class set of Wonder by R.J. Palacio will give my students the opportunity to read a beautiful story of kindness, acceptance, and empathy. With a mixture of humor, sadness, and relatable themes, this developmentally meaningful novel will be one of those books that draws my class in and gives them a reason to keep on reading. It's the perfect way to begin our deep dive into literature. As we read Wonder together in class, students will each have an opportunity to analyze the text. We will discover the beauty of the author's craft, witness the power of character development, experience multiple points of view, and discover universal themes that speak to us all. My hope is that through this shared literacy experience my students will gain an appreciation for great storytelling and learn that "when given the choice between being right or being kind, always choose kind." ~Dr. Wayne W.
