Gifted Students should read between 50%-90% non-fiction text per the Board of Education! How can this be possible if we do not have enough on-fiction texts in the classroom? The average book cost $5.00-$15.00. We currently have 27 Gifted students ready to read non-fiction text. However, due to budget cuts we are extremely low on non-fiction texts and we are a Title I school. Our class just received this wonderful professional development Social Studies grant called “Setting the Stage”, which inspires teachers to read non-fiction text. However, our 2nd grade class just realized we have very little non-fiction books in our classroom library. Please help us grow our non-fiction library for these wonderful hard working gifted & talented students. Since our school does not have a school library, we rely heavily on our classroom library. Please help us add non-fiction text to our class library!
