This project helps bring student choice in my classroom and celebrate the diversity of students that enter my classroom. All students are different therefore the same seating option of an old desk doesn’t work for all students. My goal is to allow students to be able to choose their seating each week. These flexible seating options that I have selected also allow my classroom to be able to change as the instruction does. They seating choices can be at a students table when doing individual work, can be easily moved to create learning groups, and used when playing our instruction group games. This allows for flexible learning that doesn’t come from the 25 year old clunky desks currently in our classroom. I plan to incorporate lessons on responsibility and character traits as well as accountability as students will be able to choose seating each week by displaying those things. This project will give my students a voice, an incentive to apply the things taught in our character trait lessonS each week, as well as a flexibility in our learning to be able to learn effectively.
