We are a Title I school which means that the majority of our students receive free lunch. Many of our students come from low-income housing. Oftentimes, our students do not have access to clean clothing or clothing that fits them appropriately. So many of us take clean clothing for granted and many of our students, unfortunately, don't have that luxury through no fault of their own. When our students come to school it is obvious to the other children that they are wearing the exact same clothing day after day. This project includes items of clothing such as shirts, pants, and dresses for those students who may come to school in clothes with holes, stains, and/or odors (because their parents/guardians can't afford new ones). It also includes undergarments for students in case of an unfortunate accident during school (we are elementary level). All students deserve to feel good about themselves and through this project I hope to give them that opportunity.
