For many of the children in my class, school is their only safe haven. Our classroom is where they can be kids--they don't have to take care of younger siblings or worry about if there is going to be food on the table. For a few hours a day, my students are given the opportunity to be themselves, act silly, interact with others, and learn--not just about reading, but about life, collaboration, problem solving, and why it is important to keep trying.

About my class
