Do you remember teaching your children their ABCs? I'll bet there was a tune involved. Music has been used by teachers and learners to instruct and inspire others for generations. Budget cuts have taken the visiting programs away. I want to bring instruments back. We are requesting 20 quality ukuleles with gig bags to allow each student an opportunity to become enthusiastic music makers. I hope to give my students a richer educational experience through the use of ukuleles. Students will learn basic chords and apply this in accompaniment to the songs we learn in class. They will have opportunities to learn to read music as well as ukulele tablature. This project will place a ukulele in every students arms. Students will learn to play, sing, and even write their own songs. Using lyrics and ukuleles, music makes academic subjects more personal. Students will become enthusiastic and lifelong music makers.
