My students are a group of lively activists looking to take ownership of their learning and provide not only a better learning space for themselves, but for all of the students who follow. They aren't just learning their lessons, they're designing spaces in the garden for younger students. Their goal (they told me) was to not only meet the needs of all 600 students in this school, but to have other students in the district travel here for their science field trips. They are also excited to combine our previous unit on plastic into the garden design by creating the majority of the garden out of reused, re-purposed, recycled and upcycled materials.
