In January, I was placed with 11 vibrant 4th and 5th grade students in a "severe" learning and language disabilities class in Newark, NJ, a high poverty city. Their classification range from cognitively impaired to autism. Even though they are labeled as "severe", they have been busy bees trying to make up what they have lost. They are making steady progress in this short period of time. I could tell by their smiling faces that they are happy to have a permanent teacher and a structured learning. environment.

About my class
