The Title 1 school that I teach at is in a rural setting in which students have limited experiences and opportunities. I teach 3 different groups of 3rd grade students; therefore, I teach a total of 67 students. Almost 75% of my students are on free or reduced lunch, because of this they have limited resources to bring in school supplies when needed. Our school is also a 1-to-1 school in which every student in 3rd-5th grades receive an iPad. This is an excellent resource for students, but requires parents to purchase iPad insurance. This limits the amount of back to school supplies we can request and the amount of supplies we receive. These basic supplies are important, but not always provided. My school is a wonderful place to be and has an awesome reputation. Teachers go above and beyond to meet the needs of our students. I also teach an after school program for struggling students two days a weeks and also use supplies with these students.
