My students are extraordinarily diverse; multi-ethnic and mixed-ability, they thrive and live for intellectual interactions among each other. Conscious, aware, and concerned, my students express great desire to understand the human and environment interactions that continue to shape the earth, to prognosticate as to the future condition of the earth, and to work so that theirs and future generations will learn from the ecological mistakes of the past. I am very proud of my students - they care and truly want to make a positive difference for the world and its inhabitants. Although my school is very large, there are many academic communities throughout, each of which provides an intellectual home and social center for those students who gravitate to that particular discipline or subject matter. It is a caring place, with an academically encouraging atmosphere that values tolerance and intellectual curiosity above the trendiness and typical superficial distractions of high school.
