I am a self-contained special education teacher who works in a Title I school. There are different things my students do on a daily basis for drill and practice. My students work hard but keeping them engaged can be difficult. We use technology and educational games to keep them engaged. My students have my heart and live in an area that is disadvantaged. They need every opportunity to succeed. I want to give them a good foundation so they can blossom. It's so important that students have access to different modalities to learn and retain. Lecture and worksheets are not the best way to engage students. I would like to give them an academic foundation that is fun AND educational. This project will allow my students to work independently or in centers. We had borrowed a set of Hot Dots before and the students maintained skills over breaks they hadn't had in the past. I would like to see my students to use these Hot Dots cards to start processing in Reading and Math. Using technology with students has shown that technology and education are needed for a child to succeed. These classroom supplies (Hot Dots) will be used with different groups of students on a daily basis. Drill and practice with these cards will make them more fluent and confident.
