Ukulele is a powerful tool for students to learn musical concepts. Students learn about chords, accompaniment, melody, harmony, ensemble playing and solo work with this one instrument. We will learn traditional or classical songs as well as popular music to show the students that they can be musicians just like the musicians to whom they listen. Many students who are not in band or orchestra never learn to master an instrument. By providing the instruments to students who otherwise would not be able to afford one, we give them an opportunity to access a music education that is both enriching and rewarding. These ukuleles will benefit students this year and for years to come at our school.
