This class is multi-age and includes students from grades 6-12. We believe that the high school students can serve as mentors for the middle school students as the content of the events for both levels is very similar. Our middle school serves as a magnet school for the gifted students in our inner city school district and qualifies for 100% Free and Reduced Lunch status. Our high school is also a smaller magnet school that serves a wider scope of needs and yet still focuses on academics. This is the first year in our quest to make our school a STEM school. We've added coding classes and robotics classes and believe the Science Olympiad class is another step in the right direction. The students in the class are already trying to find creative ways to meet our needs for supplies (collecting 2L bottles and begging their parents to purchase supplies), but there are some needs that go beyond what the parents can supply. These students have the creativity and the verve to succeed in STEM!
