In our district, we were given $25 per student for supplies this year. This may sound like a lot when you think of 45 kids, but it didn't turn out to be much. Each classroom received 24 pencils, 6 erasers, 24 notebooks and 48 folders along with some highlighters and a pack of expos. We do not even have enough supplies for each student. It is now October and I am almost completely out of pencils, even with my own stash. We are in a bit of a pickle because we are not allowed to ask the parents for anything, because many cannot afford to donate supplies. I know it is a little extra to ask for a few computers, but with many English language learners, it would be so helpful to let them use a word processor in order to give them more support and drafting time. These will also be used for using a reading program, Lightsail for research and individualized reading. Please consider donating a little to help keep pencils in these kids' hands. Help us to fix mistakes with some erasers, and have paper to write some seriously awesome stories. Thank you so much.
