Our mission, at Riverdale Avenue Community School, we strive for resilience, awareness, collaboration so that we achieve success! We serve a Title 1 school in one of the most high need, impoverished neighborhoods in the Brooklyn, NY., where many of our children live in shelters and 98% of them are eligible for free lunch. However we try our best to be champions for our students and we strive to accommodate their needs in every way, so the only thing they have to worry about, when they walk through our doors, is their learning. Many have never traveled beyond five miles, outside of their home, so the use of technology will enhance learning and engagement with a world outside their neighborhoods, in addition to school trips. We also hope to elevate mastery through practice and experience with various art materials. Art provides an outlet of hope and a voice to cope and strive beyond adversity.
