When teaching social studies, we concentrate on conflict, resources, and the movement of people. Having maps will better assist my students in seeing conflict from a visual perspective. The dry erase markers will be used to show the movement of people from one given area to another. They will also be used to indicate natural resources, or the lack of, in a given area. Many students are visual learners. Students can use the maps to show a greater understanding versus the standard means of assessing students through multiple-choice and short-response answers. Any assistance given will be greatly appreciated by both staff and students.
