Stellar, cultural, thriving, mighty, everlasting - these are just a few adjectives I would use to describe the founding campus of 6th graders I'm honored to work with daily. Ceaselessly serving a community of families with students living at or under the poverty line, my charter school focuses on college readiness, acceptance, and graduation. Additionally, this campus caters to the social and academic needs of 300 amazing kids that are 99% Black and Hispanic and will be the first in their family to attend college. My students are eager learners who come from weakly supportive educational facilities in their academic past. My students are people that deal with very adult-like issues and responsibilities at the age of 11. My students, in light of many discouraging naysayers who say they can't do it, are kids who look forward to attending college at such an early age. In a nutshell, my scholars are the walking embodiment of progression for their families and their community.
