2017-2018 school year: I teach grades k-2 at a title I public school. The majority of the students come from low-income families. All of my students have a disability, physical and/or cognitive, and sometimes emotional. Because of the types of disabilities my students have, they spend most of their day with me. I teach them reading, writing, math, social skills, and provide behavioral support. Some students are learning how to read sight words, print letters, and count 1-10, whereas, others are working on identifying colors or numbers. Another benefit has been getting to know more staff in our building. This is my 11th year teaching Special Education. I have had the pleasure of teaching middle school and high school. Now that I am a mother of a young daughter, I wanted to switch to elementary... now I get to sing children's songs at home and work!
