We are a school in the heart and soul of the South Bronx. Our students come from some of the poorest neighborhoods in New York City. Amongst all the poverty and violence in our neighborhood, our school allows all of our students a chance to graduate high school with a college degree... without having to pay a cent! Even though our high schoolers have a chance to attend a college campus, our middle schoolers are forced to sit in prehistoric classrooms, making teaching and learning difficult.
My students are Students with Disabilities. Most are classified as children with a Learning Disability, Speech and Language Impairment, or are English Language Learners. My students struggle because of gaps in their education and skill levels. My students work hard to increase their levels and meet the new Common Core Standards, but unfortunately our technologically deficient classrooms are making it very difficult for them to succeed. Having access to enhancing technology is vital to all here.
