I teach in a school serving an area with one of the lowest per captita income per square mile in the state. My students face the many challenges of poverty and still come to school every day and put in effort towards a better tomorrow. We have a very high percentage of students who speak a language besides English in their home, and they are dedicated to working hard to learn English AND learn the skills necessary for success.
