My students are Boston residents from a variety of diverse backgrounds. Despite their backgrounds they share common attributes; they are intellectually curious, driven, and eager to learn. They all have diverse needs but they would all benefit from having classroom access to web based resources. Our school of 2,400 students has 2 computer laboratories and one Chromebook cart for each department; the science department cart is shared by 15 teachers. In the 7th grade all students conduct a scientific inquiry project. Submissions are considered for the city-wide science fair. These projects will be research informed and vetted for originality. Students are encouraged to develop proposals that are innovative and benefit society. My students are resourceful and tech savvy. They are equipped with 21st century learning skills that will make them informed, college ready students. They have much to learn, but only if we give them the tools to access all possible resources.
