My 3rd grade classroom is a high energy, enthusiastic learning environment. With this being my first year in 3rd grade, I have noticed that flexible seating options are a necessity for my students. I believe four yoga balls and five wobble stool/chairs will increase student engagement in activities and learning. I plan on using these to increase student engagement and in turn increase student learning based on the studies showing the correlation between movement and the ability to learn. Studies have also shown that children are better able to focus their brains when they are balancing their bodies simultaneously. This variation of seating will allow my students to stay on task and complete seat work while having the ability to move when needed.
